Management Functions/Process

According to the functions approach, managers perform certain activities or functions as they efficiently and effectively coordinate the work of others. What are these function? Henri Fayol, a French businessman, first propose in the early part of the twenching century that all managers perform five functions : planning, organizing, commanding, coordinating and controlling.
  1. Planning : Defining goals, establishing strategy and developing plans to coordinate activities.
  2. Organizing : Determining what needs to be done, how it will be donw and who is to be done.
  3. Leading : Motivating , leading and any other actions involved in dealing with people.
  4. Controlling : Monitoring activities to ensure that they are accomplish as planned.
